  3. Program Description:
  4. Astrology for Windows is a comprehensive astrology program that
  5. accurately calculates and displays the positions of the planets and
  6. houses in either the Tropical or Sidereal zodiac and seven house
  7. systems over approximately 8,000 years.  Users can save calculated
  8. birth charts for review, change, or comparison with other charts.  The
  9. program displays two types of graphic wheels, including one showing
  10. aspect lines which can be interactively adjusted.  Users can easily
  11. look at their current transits or examine astrological compatibility
  12. between people's charts.  Astrology for Windows includes calculation of
  13. solar and lunar returns and transits lists.  It features an atlas of
  14. 2600 cities and interactive maps of the World, U.S., and Europe.  The
  15. program includes the minor planet Chiron and the moon's true nodes. 
  16. Astrology for Windows is customizable and very easy to use - it
  17. features a standard Windows interface and context-sensitive, on-line
  18. help.  The Windows Help includes an introduction to astrology chapter
  19. and bibliography.  From the Help Menu one runs a separate demo program
  20. showing the additional features of the commercial AstrolDeluxe for
  21. Windows on which this program is based.  All program text is in an
  22. editable file, allowing Astrology for Windows to be easily localized
  23. for different languages and countries.

  27. This version 2.3 extends the accurate range of Chiron outside the 20th
  28. century, to span the period from 1800 to 2100 A.D.  The declinations at
  29. Display, Supplemental Calculations, are extended past the Asc. and M.C.
  30. to include the Moon's Nodes, the Part of Fortune, and Chiron, if you
  31. have customized the program to include those additional planet points. 
  32. This version adds glyphs showing any intercepted signs between the 
  33. houses of the graphic chartwheel.  It adds a list of recently viewed 
  34. charts, at the bottom of the File menu at the Chart Information screen, 
  35. allowing immediate selection and display.  In the version of Astrology
  36. for Windows that can be downloaded off the Internet, thirteen languages 
  37. can be selected during installation, namely, English, Spanish, 
  38. Norwegian, Dutch, Portugese, Swedish, Italian, French, Russian, Czech, 
  39. Romanian, Finnish, and German.  The separate demo program of additional
  40. features found in AstrolDeluxe for Windows, a demo that can be run from
  41. the Natal Information screen's Help menu, has been updated to show all
  42. the added features in AstrolDeluxe, including AstrolDeluxe ReportWriter,
  43. as of 1999.  The Windows Help manual has been thoroughly brought up to 
  44. date.

  48. formatted printing, biwheel of two charts, greatly expanded city lists
  49. and higher resolution maps, list of world time zones, can enter data
  50. to the second, sun is calculated to an accuracy of one arc-second and
  51. moon to five arc-seconds, has Chiron and moon's true nodes, calculates
  52. solar and lunar return charts, has context-sensitive help and an
  53. introduction to astrology.

  55. Unique features of this astrology program:
  56. This is a reliable, very accurate, and easy to use astrology
  57. calculation program.  It does not attempt to provide interpretations,
  58. which avoid being superficial only in complete report writer software
  59. such as we sell commercially.  Halloran Software has been creating a
  60. line of astrology software since 1985 and has been selling Windows 
  61. astrology software since 1992.  This program is unique among shareware 
  62. in the support that it provides for copying both text and graphics to 
  63. the Windows clipboard, in calculating to such high accuracy, in 
  64. calculating return charts and a transits list, in its comprehensive 
  65. atlas module, in analyzing compatibility between people's charts, in 
  66. the high quality of its two graphic wheels, and in its support for 
  67. international date formats and languages.

  69. Program capacity or limitations: Astrology for Windows is distributed
  70. as freeware, with no requirement to ever register it.  The program will
  71. calculate and display an unlimited number of accurate charts for any
  72. place or time.  The tabular displays of positions and aspects may be
  73. printed for all charts.  However, registration does bring additional
  74. benefits such as the ability to save more than just 100 birth charts to
  75. file, delete charts, make use of the maps of the United States and
  76. Europe, and print or copy to the clipboard the color graphic wheels for
  77. more than saved chart number one.

  81. How to start the program:  In Windows 3.1, start the program by
  82. clicking on the icon for Astrology for Windows in the Halloran
  83. Software program group.  In Windows 95/98, click on Start, Programs,
  84. Halloran Software and select the moon icon item to run Astrology for
  85. Windows.  Or, either from File Manager in Windows 3.1 or Explorer in
  86. Windows 95/98, double-click the AST4WIN.EXE file.

  148. The Astrology for Windows program, version 2.3, comes in a
  149. self-extracting Windows executable - ASTWIN23.EXE.  Once you have
  150. downloaded this program to your computer, double-click from Explorer on
  151. the file.  The WinZip extraction program will confirm that you want to
  152. extract all the files to the C:\WINASTRO directory, which it will create
  153. for you.

  155. The final act of the extraction process is to run the INSTALL1.EXE
  156. program - this will ask in which of the 13 available languages you want
  157. your program to be and will add the Halloran Software program group and
  158. astrology item icons to your Windows desktop [you yourself can rerun the
  159. INSTALL1.EXE program in the future].
